KEviN M. Mayse

Agency: Cass County Sheriff's Office, Missouri

Officer Kevin Mayes was a 34 year old man of commitment and service, and lived his life in the moment every day. After responding to a car chase Kevin’s patrol car struck a tree on West 172nd Street, west of Holmes Road, during the pursuit. The driver he was pursuing was charged with manslaughter but convicted only of leaving the scene of an accident. Deputy Sheriff Kevin Mayse succumbed to injuries sustained in the vehicle crash on June 9, 1995.

Deputy Mayse had served with the Cass County Sheriff's Office for three years on the department’s K-9 squad. Deputy Mayse is survived by his wife, Scottie Sue, and four children, including his youngest daughter whom he never had the joy to meet since she was born a month after Kevin's death.

The Cass County Kevin Mayes Memorial run is in honor of Deputy Sheriff Mayse for his valiant service in his life.

Reflections:

Wow 23 years since you have been gone. We still miss you and think about you! You would be proud of the way your children have grown into adults and happy that they are making their own way through this life. Your life was a great example to all to live in the moment and be happy! You always had your happy dance ready to show the world! Peace and until we meet again.
