Melvin E. Miller

Agency: Jackson County Sheriff's Office, MO

Detective Melvin Miller was a detective for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for eight years. He also worked as Jackson County deputy medical examiner and a member of the Metro Squad. He  served with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for a total of 11 years.

Detective Miller was struck and killed by an automobile as he crossed Highway 470. The other vehicle had run the red light when it struck Detective Miller's vehicle.

Detective Miller was a member of the Bader Memorial Christian Church. He was survived by his two children.

Reflections:

Mel and I were partners from 1974-1976 working undercover narcotics primarily in the inner city. Mel was a very conscientious and dedicated detective who had two dear children that he admired very much. Mel is fondly remembered frequently. Thanks for the memories Mel. You have not been forgotten.

Although I never got a chance to meet my Uncle I learned what an amazing person he was through the stories my father tells me. It has been 35 years today and I know a day doesn't go by that my Dad doesn't think about him. Never Forget.
