Officer Thomas J. Wilson served in the Kansas City Police Department for 37 years. 

On December 19, 1923, as Officer Wilson stepped from the corner of 41st and Troost, he was struck by a car. The car was driven by his friend, Louis Becker, a businessman in the City Market area. The first call to come into the Woodland station advising of the accident was taken by Betty Bickett, Officer Wilson's daughter. She ordered an ambulance for her father and then passed out. Officer Wilson died as a result of a broken neck at the age of 62.

Officer Wilson was the father-in-law of Officer Carl Bickett who was also killed in the line of duty in 1921. Wilson was survived by his wife and daughter.
