Officer Wright Dewey Bryant served in the Kansas City Police Department for two years.

On December 1, 1923, Officer Bryant observed a man attempting to rob a filling station at Admiral and Paseo. As Officer Bryant tried to capture the suspect, the suspect turned and shot the officer, severely wounding him. The other officers with Officer Bryant gave chase to the suspect and fired numerous times at him. When they finally caught up to the suspect, they found him dead after sustaining eight gunshot wounds. Officer Bryant died December 3, 1923, from his wounds. He was 29 years old at his death.

Officer Bryant was survived by his wife, Wynona Mullins Bryant.
